A Kuwait office pantry has a lot to do. It serves gahwa and tea to visitors, keeps chilled water flowing through summers that pass 50°C, and often handles a crate of sparkling water for meetings. The BRITA Extra C-Tap brings all of that to one tap on the worktop: hot, room-temperature, chilled, lightly sparkling and fully sparkling water, with the chiller, boiler, carbonator and filters hidden in the cupboard below. This guide answers the questions Kuwait facilities and office managers ask us most before they order one: who it suits, which boiler to choose, what the water supply means for it, and what it takes to keep it running.
Sovereign Water is an authorised BRITA supplier in Kuwait. We specify, install and service the Extra C-Tap for offices, banks, clinics and hospitality back-of-house across the country.
TL;DR
- Five drinks from one tap: room-temperature still, chilled still, chilled semi-sparkling, chilled sparkling, and hot up to 95°C.
- BRITA rates it for about 20 to 100 regular users. The medium boiler makes 20 litres of hot water an hour; the large one makes 30.
- Built-in BRITA filtration: PURITY C on the hot side against scale, CLARITY Protect on the cold side.
- Kuwait's drinking water is mostly desalinated and blended with a small share of brackish groundwater, then stored in building tanks. How your building stores water matters as much as the source.
- We size it from your busiest hour, fit it, and service it under a planned maintenance plan.

Is the Extra C-Tap right for our office?
It suits workplaces where one drinks point has to serve a team of roughly 20 to 100 people and where the pantry is seen by guests. Typical Kuwait settings include:
- Head offices and executive floors in Kuwait City, Sharq and the business districts
- Banks, investment firms, law and consulting practices with client meeting rooms
- Ministries and semi-government offices with frequent visitors
- Clinic and hospital administration areas
- Hotel and serviced-apartment back-of-house, staff rooms and lounges
It is a good fit when you want to remove the kettle, the bottled water cooler and the sparkling water deliveries in one go. It is less suited to very small teams. For a handful of people, a BRITA Top Compact is usually enough, and we will say so. If the site does not need hot water from the same tap, BRITA's Extra I-Tap covers chilled, room-temperature and sparkling only.
What exactly comes out of the tap?
A glass touch panel on the tap lets users choose between five options:
| Option | Typical use in a Kuwait office |
|---|---|
| Hot, up to 95°C | Tea, instant coffee, gahwa preparation, cup soups |
| Chilled still | The main summer drink, bottle refills after the walk from the car park |
| Room-temperature still | With meals, with medication, for people who avoid very cold water |
| Chilled semi-sparkling | Meeting rooms and lunch |
| Chilled sparkling | Client meetings and events |
Pre-set portions let staff fill a cup, a glass or a reusable bottle to a fixed amount without holding the button. The hot side has anti-scald protection, which is worth showing to new staff and cleaners at handover.
Medium or large boiler?
Choose by how many hot drinks are poured at once, not by headcount alone.
- Medium boiler: 20 litres of hot water an hour and 1.8 litres ready to pour before it needs to reheat. It suits floors where tea is made a cup at a time through the day.
- Large boiler: 30 litres an hour and 6 litres ready to pour. It suits offices where a meeting starts with a pot of tea or a flask, where visitors arrive in groups, or where the pantry serves Ramadan ghabqa and evening events.
If your team regularly fills thermos flasks or teapots, or if the pantry also serves a meeting suite, the large boiler avoids a queue at the busiest moment.
What do the specifications say?
These figures come from BRITA's Extra C-Tap product information. They are rated values; real output depends on the water arriving, its temperature and how the tap is used.
| Item | Figure |
|---|---|
| Users | About 20 to 100 regular users |
| Hot water per hour | 20 L/h (medium boiler) or 30 L/h (large boiler) |
| Hot water ready before reheat | 1.8 L (medium) or 6 L (large) |
| Hot flow at the spout | 1.6 L/min (medium) or 1.9 L/min (large) |
| Maximum hot temperature | Up to 95°C |
| Cooler unit (W x H x D) | 272 x 490 x 473 mm, 38.5 kg |
| Tap height | 330 mm |
| Hot-side filter | PURITY C Dispenser, sizes C300 to C1100 |
| Cold-side filter | CLARITY Protect, particle reduction to 0.5 microns |
| Energy use | About 2.24 kWh a day (BRITA's test: 10 L hot and 60 L cold drawn daily, standby included) |
BRITA lists four safety features: leak detection, an emergency shut-off, anti-scald on the hot dispense and boiler sensors that detect overheating. These are useful to note in your equipment register and supplier due diligence.
How does Kuwait's water affect it?
Kuwait has almost no surface fresh water. Desalination plants along the coast provide about 92% of the water used for domestic and industrial needs, according to Fanack Water. Freshly desalinated water is very low in minerals, so a small share of brackish groundwater is blended in before it is distributed: roughly 10% to 13% of Kuwait's groundwater production is used this way, according to a 2022 review in Frontiers in Environmental Science.
By the time the water reaches a pantry, it has usually passed through a ground tank, a pump set and a roof tank. That journey matters more than the source:
- Heat. Roof tanks and exposed pipes warm up in summer. Warm water arriving at the tap makes the chiller work harder and can affect taste.
- Storage time. Water that sits in tanks for days can lose its disinfectant and pick up sediment.
- Older buildings. Corroded risers and old tanks add particles that load filters faster.
The BRITA filters are designed for typical mains water. Where a building's water carries more sediment or minerals, the filters reach their capacity sooner, and the boiler and carbonator take more wear. In those buildings we add a sediment, carbon or softening stage ahead of the tap. In a building with clean tanks and short storage times, the BRITA filters on their own are usually enough. The chargeable site survey decides which applies.
What do we need on site before it is fitted?
Share this list with your fit-out contractor or landlord early. Most installation delays come from the cupboard, not the tap.
- A base cupboard with room for the cooler unit (272 mm wide, 473 mm deep) plus the boiler, filters and CO2 cylinder
- Ventilation in the cupboard, so the cooler can get rid of heat. This matters more in Kuwait, where pantries can be warm.
- A cold-water supply with an isolation valve
- A drain point
- A dedicated electrical supply in the cupboard
- Access for CO2 cylinder changes and filter swaps without removing fixed joinery
- A note of where the building stores its water (ground tank, roof tank or both) and who cleans the tanks
What does looking after it involve?
An Extra C-Tap needs four regular jobs: filter changes on both lines, CO2 cylinder swaps, sanitisation, and a check that each of the five drinks dispenses at the right temperature and fizz. Under our maintenance plan, our technicians handle all four on a schedule set by your actual use, so the sparkling does not run out in front of a client and the boiler stays free of scale.
For offices with several floors or sites, one plan covers every unit, with one service history and one contact.
More questions from Kuwait offices
Can it replace our bottled water cooler and kettle?
Yes. It covers hot, chilled and room-temperature still water, plus sparkling. Run the comparison with our commercial drinking water calculator.
How hot is the hot water?
Up to 95°C, with anti-scald protection on the dispense.
Will it keep up in July and August?
Chilled demand peaks in summer. The bigger risk is warm water arriving from a roof tank, which adds load to the chiller. We look at where the water is stored during the survey and allow for it.
What happens during Ramadan?
Daytime use usually falls and evening use can rise if the office hosts ghabqa or iftar events. We can move service visits around your working hours for the month.
Is it suitable for a 15-person office?
It will work, but it may be more than you need. For small teams we usually recommend a smaller BRITA dispenser.
Plan your pantry
Tell us your location, the number of people, how the building stores its water and when your busiest periods are. We will recommend the right boiler, any treatment needed ahead of the tap, and a service plan to match.
