Ice is a food. In a Kuwait hotel, restaurant or café, it goes straight into drinks, onto seafood counters and into buffet displays, and the machine that makes it runs flat out through the long summer. The Everpure Insurice i2000, made by Pentair, is a filter system built only for commercial ice machines. It cleans the water on the way in, which protects both the ice and the machine.

What Is the Everpure Insurice i2000?
The Insurice i2000 is a wall-mounted filter head and cartridge that fits on the water line feeding an ice machine. It needs no electrical supply. Each cartridge combines two Everpure technologies.

Pentair's Single system sheet also lists reduced chloramines and particulates, both of which can spoil the taste of drinks. The 0.2 micron figure is validated by an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, according to Pentair.
Why Ice Machines in Kuwait Need Filtration
Most of Kuwait's drinking water comes from desalinated seawater. Because desalinated water is so low in minerals, it is blended with brackish groundwater before it reaches the network, to meet World Health Organization guidelines (Fanack Water). The blend adds minerals back, and the mix can vary by area and season. Many buildings also store water in rooftop or basement tanks, where sediment can settle and the water warms up.
An ice machine freezes water layer by layer and drains away what is left, so the minerals and particles in that supply end up on its evaporator, pump and water lines. What Poor Water Does to an Ice Machine
The trouble builds up slowly. Scale on the evaporator makes the freeze and harvest cycles less efficient, so the machine works longer for less ice. Sediment can block the water distribution tube and spray holes, which can leave cubes thin or badly formed. Taste and odour carry straight into every drink served with that ice.
Then come the service calls. Descaling and sanitising take the machine out of use, and the worst time for that is a hot July week when the bar needs more ice, not less. Filtering the water at the inlet costs far less than cleaning scale out of the machine later.
Choosing Single, Twin or PF
Choose the system by your machine's daily ice output and the water flow it draws, not by the price of the cartridge. Pentair lists four i2000² systems.

Service flow must never go above the rated figure. If a site has several machines on one line, or a machine bigger than the Twin covers, the Insurice i4000 series is built for heavier loads. Our site survey confirms which one fits.

The same rules apply to both. Never use a saddle valve (a clamp-on tap that pierces the pipe) for the connection. Never connect the system to a water-cooled condenser. Mount it upright with the cartridges hanging down, and leave 6.35 cm clear below for cartridge changes. The Twin manifold has a water shutoff, a flushing valve and an outlet pressure gauge, which makes changes and checks quicker.
The 38°C top limit is worth checking in Kuwait. In summer, water from a rooftop tank or a pipe that runs through a hot ceiling space can arrive warm, so our survey measures the feed temperature where the filter will go.
Changing Cartridges on Schedule
The replacement cartridge is the EV9612-22, used in both systems. A filter only protects the machine while it is in date.

When the i2000 Is Not Enough
The i2000 is a filter, not a disinfection system. Pentair states it must not be used on water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without proper disinfection before or after it. It is also not a softener. Where the supply is very hard or high in dissolved solids, an upstream stage may be needed, such as a commercial softener or reverse osmosis.
